Press Release– Money4YOU Announces 2023 Dragons Den Event: A Collaborative Endeavour to Eradicate Economic Inequalities
[London, 13.10.23] — Money4YOU, a pioneering community-led organisation committed to eliminating economic disparities through financial education, is excited to announce its annual Dragons Den event on Friday, October 20, 2023. This event, now in its 11th year, continues to be a beacon of hope and change, showcasing the power of collaboration and participatory grant making in support of Black, Asian, Multi-Ethnic, and Refugee (BAMER) led nonprofits.
Dragons Den is a unique event where Grant Makers come together to hear and evaluate funding pitches presented by BAMER-led nonprofits, who are working tirelessly to address pressing issues in their communities. One of the distinguishing features of the Dragons Den event is the democratic voting system, where attendees’ votes hold equal weight with funders’ deliberations.
This approach fosters inclusivity and empowers the community to make a significant impact on the allocation of resources. This collaborative process employed at Dragons Den not only amplifies the voices of these organisations but also ensures that the attendees, alongside the funders, play a pivotal role in deciding which projects receive support.
Attendees make a difference by contributing through sponsorships, donations, and purchasing event tickets. This approach exemplifies Money4YOU’s commitment to redistributing resources within the community, thereby fostering shared purpose and empowerment.
AmickyCarol Akiwumi MBE has been convening the Dragons Den event since 2012, and Money4YOU extends its heartfelt gratitude to the organisations and foundations that have generously supported this event over the years, including Arts Council England, BBC Children in Need, City Bridge Trust, Comic Relief, CommUNITY Barnet, Edge Fund, Esmeé Fairbairn Foundation, The National Lottery Community Fund, The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Matrix Causes, The Pocressi Initiative, Prism The Gift Fund, Trust for London, The Tudor Trust, and UK Community Foundations.
This year, Money4YOU is honoured to announce Jeff Green as the keynote speaker for Dragons Den 2023. Jeff Green’s impressive career spanning over 30 years has been dedicated to bringing together people from diverse backgrounds and industries to foster innovation and inspire positive change.
